STORY
HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
Young and brave, Shou Qing always aspired to build great things like skyscrapers, beautiful cars, breathtaking art, and more. However, in his 20 years of life, he never truly found a way to express his creative side in the real world.
As a child, he loved drawing his father's old green car. He would draw it over and over, hoping to hear his father praise him. He also drew everything he found aesthetically pleasing, filling the house with his drawings like trophies.
But as he grew up, this part of him slowly faded away. It might have been due to a traumatic experience during a family dispute. Although his parents stayed under the same roof, they constantly argued, so he sought escape.
He began going out to play, trying to distract himself and recapture the happiness he once had. He was a little boy full of energy and sometimes a bit odd to the other kids.
But one thing was certain: this little boy always loved his family.
In college, he met a group of friends who eventually became his best friends. It was the first time in his life he was told, "Just stay with us, and know that even if we don't talk much, we'll always be close at heart." He had many crazy adventures during that time.
But as university life progressed, some friends went abroad, and others started working, causing the group to slowly drift apart. He knew he had to focus on his own life from then on.
In his journey, he worked in various jobs, from serving in a KBBQ restaurant to being a cashier at an ice cream shop, a property salesman, and more.
Then COVID-19 happened, and everyone was confined to their homes. At first, he would walk out his door at midnight, look at the sky, and wonder if this was all there was to life.
A group of his friends introduced him to NFTs again, and it was something that resonated with him. So, he gathered two of his friends to start a project. He picked up Adobe Illustrator and began making art once more, spending day and night in front of his computer.
But there was a problem with the website creation, and one of his partners was never serious, so they never completed it. Soon, the pandemic subsided, people went back outside, and he got a 9-to-5 job. It all led to one point where he couldn't take the never-ending cycle anymore.
He was fortunate to have a friend named Sean, who eventually gave him an opportunity to work in Singapore. Although it wasn't much, it was exactly what he needed. There, he worked every day from the moment he woke up until he went to sleep.
Was it tiring? No. He genuinely enjoyed it. As time passed, he tested all the hypotheses he once had but never had the time to explore. He picked up a book and finished his first one in 25 years HAHA
He learned how to code from YouTube and Udemy. He watched YouTube videos from Y Combinator and Daniel Dalen. While watching Daniel Dalen, he noticed a thumbnail with a few logos Slack, Notion, and Figma, if he remembered correctly. So, he began researching these tools. Figma, in particular, felt nostalgic to him, so he dove deeper and eventually discovered Framer.
He watched Framer content on YouTube, learning and experimenting with it. This exploration reignited a long-lost passion within him the same passion he had as a child, drawing his father's car and filling his home with art.
For the first time in years, Shou Qing felt a sense of purpose. The creative spark that had faded during his turbulent youth was now burning brighter than ever. He realized that every step of his journey the ups, the downs, the distractions, and the detours had led him back to this moment, where he could finally express his creativity in a way that felt true to who he was.
Shou Qing knew that this was just the beginning. The tools, skills, and experiences he had gathered along the way were now coming together, forming the foundation for something greater. He was no longer the little boy seeking praise or the young man lost in distractions; he was an artist, a creator, ready to build and share his vision with the world.
As he continued to explore and create, Shou Qing realized that his journey wasn't just about finding his path it was about understanding that every moment, every experience, had a purpose. And now, with his newfound clarity, he was ready to embrace his future, knowing that his story was far from over.
Shou Qing would go on to create, inspire, and build the things he had always dreamed of, but this time, with the wisdom and confidence that only a lifetime of experiences could bring. And in doing so, he would remind others that it's never too late to rediscover your passion and start building the life you've always imagined.
